Translated into ordinary language, that means we listen with empathy to help you identify issues and then work with you to figure out practical solutions, teaching any skills needed to make those solutions work and support you along the way.  IDEALS for Families and Communities puts emphasis on resiliency, especially in individual counseling. Our research on resiliency over the past ten years leads us to believe that most therapy works best if it centers on strengths and client-determined goals. Even when there are serious issues or diagnoses, it is this strength-based focus that enables people to overcome whatever is troubling them.
